Weaving Workshop

Ran by head of textiles, Ritva Jääskeläinen, Our class learned the basics of recognising different weaving patterns (Plain, Twill and satin) and learned how to make our own. We were assessed on two different pieces: One made on a handloom, and the other on the large floor looms (either pedal or automated heddles).

I’m really proud of my final pieces and fully intend to do more weaving in the future, both hand loomed and floor loomed (potentially for stretching and painting over).

My Pillow was inspired by the Arctic hares whose coats change from summer to winter and I wanted to mark their transition

Gender, Body, Water

A module ran virtually through HILMA (2024) and the University of Turku by Anastasia Khodyreva working on source material from Astrida Neimanis, Luce irigaray and Nancy Tuana on the topic of hydrofeminism. My submitted essay is linked above

This exhibition was part of a module “Art in the Built Environment” ran by Suvi Autio. I partnered up with my friend Victor van den Bogaert and we took part in the light based installation (MAP, 2023) - and the following rave “Bohem!”- by making the pieces below “Looking for remnants”.

BOHEM! (2023)

Using the same space and many of the same components from the light installation, Victor and I made these reindeer skull masks out of plaster off the template by Wintercroft (2018) which were used for decoration and costumes at the rave.
